The
story was told of a beautiful young lady who on a fateful evening, went
to see the damsels of the country where she lived. It was an unusual
practice for her because they were sojourners in that country.
When she got out of their territory to the country, the Prince of the
land saw her where she was playing with the daughters of the land and he
fell in love with her. It was lust at first sight. However, it was an
abomination for such to happen because they have whom they're eligible
to marry or associate with and their own culture was different from
theirs.
Having saw her, he raped her because he was unable to
control his sexual urge and she was defiled. When her brothers got a
wind of what happened, they were angry and retaliated but it was too
late because the deed has been done.
You might be familiar
with this story if you're a student of the Bible. But there are truths
to glean from this especially for Christian sisters.
1. Don't go out of the kingdom
Immediately, you gave your life to Christ, you no longer belong to the
world you live in and its practice. You can't be a genuine child of God
and still be making friends with the world. That you're in the world
doesn't mean you should behave like the people of the world who have no
eternal life and destination.
Going out of the kingdom,
entails that you leave the practice of God's kingdom and embrace the
culture of this perishing world. The Holy Spirit said this through
Isaiah, "Depart you, depart you, go you out from there, touch no unclean
thing; go you out from the midst of her; be you clean, that bear the
vessels of the Lord (Is. 52:11). And Apostle Paul bore witness to this
truth in 2 Corinthians 6:17.
Your body belongs to God and not
the world, you're just a steward of it. When you go out into the kingdom
of this world, you'll be defiled and polluted. Don't let westernization
and civilization erase biblical truths from your heart.
The
world we live in is created by God but governed by the devil. Only those
who stay within the confines of God's kingdom can be protected.
Anything idolized by the world will pollute you if you use it. You can't
love the world and retain your love for God. Stay with His kingdom! I
know the world has fanciful things, they're ephemeral and cannot stand
the test of time, don't let the world rob you off eternal life and give
you temporary glory.
2. Make no friendship with the daughters of the land
In the process of making friends with the daughters of the land, she
was spotted by the Prince of the land who abused her sexually. Make no
friends with the world and the people in there. You can be familiar with
them but never let them influence you against your core kingdom values.
When it comes to choosing a life partner, don't let the daughters of
the land influence your decision on how to get a partner. There is a
kingdom procedure to follow when you want to get a marriage partner. The
world has its own. You can't follow worldly procedure and expect God to
bless your union. Remember, if the foundations be destroyed, what can
the righteous do? It's better not to have a faulty foundation than to
repair a defective one. Ask building experts!
Are you
married? Don't follow worldly philosophies to run the affairs of your
marriage, otherwise it'll destroy it. We have our standards in the Word
and the world have theirs. Blessed is the wo(man) that walks not in the
counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners nor sit in the
seats of the scornful (Ps. 1:1).
How about your dressing? The
daughters of the land have their way of dressing. If you dress like
them, their wicked prince will still spot you and defile you. Don't
dress like the world. Wearing cleavage revealing clothes, tight fitted
gowns and skirts that shows the shape of your bum doesn't belong to His
kingdom. You can't conform to the world and expect the Holy Spirit to
minister to you. Even when He talks, the influence of the world in you
won't allow you listen.
Dress to please God and not to
impress the daughters of the land or even please yourself. Everything
you do must be to the Lord's. How can you wear mini skirt and you'd
believe you're doing it for God? God doesn't see a polluted heart!
God looks at the heart, you're right. But it is what is in your heart
that will define how you'd appear. If the world is not in your heart,
you can never dress like them. And if Christ is in your heart, you'll
dress to please Him.
I believe the Spirit of God will
minister grace to you as you read this. Jesus has paid the price for you
to be delivered from the evil influence of the Prince of this world,
nevertheless, don't go out of His kingdom.
